Gounyan Wines

The newest vineyard on one of the oldest estates in the Canberra District wine region.

In the north west of the Canberra district wine area, the micro vineyard lies on land granted to Grannie Davis in 1828, where a few grape vines survive from early times. Planted in 2017, the present vineyard has Sangiovese, Syrah and Riesling under cultivation. The vineyard is a family affair and has survived the trials of drought, a tornado, late frosts, hail and the odd snake. Welcome to rural life.

Our latest wines include the 2025 Riesling which has taken on the characteristics of a great Canberra District wine, finishing dry with just a hint of sweetness.

And now we have our second Syrah, which has been sitting in old oak for nearly 18 months. A more intense wine with red fruit highlights and an elegant structure. Can be cellared for many years
